Leave a comment if you have stumbled upon an aspect of Command Combat: Civil War that you feel can be improved.   This section is intended for players to throw ideas of house rules back and forth.  Do not wait for anyone here to tell you to make changes.  If you see an idea and want to use it in your game, by all means, make the changes.  It's meant to be fun! :)

I got to play this amazing game at SoCal smackdown, and while I thoroughly enjoy the rules there are some more advanced things I have brewed up that enhance the game little. First off, for moral, instead of not being shot dropping the moral dice to one, those brigades roll moral first and can simply not route. I think it accurately simulates true battle fatigue. When soldiers are extremely weary with battle fatigue the only thing that can intervene is time or a leader. Secondly, black powder weapons firing en masse creates a haze which can mask a battle field. Soldiers routinely found themselves firing blind without a heavy wind. So, in a stagnant battlefield smoke would make it harder to hit your target. If a unit fires again after firing the turn before, they suffer a further -1 to hit (still to a minimum of one). I would also suggest a second weather role for those so inclined, to check for wind. on a roll of 8,9,or 0 there is a breeze on the battlefield strong enough to carry away the smoke clouds and this -1 modifier is ignored for the battle. Lastly, I would like to see some discussion on points for a mixed battery which was so prominent on the battlefields of the civil war, especially the confederate side (especially later in the war). I was thinking it would be something like 2-3-1 or even 2-2-2 (though the later seems to powerful).
